Color Matters

During this project we learned about different colors and why they are important to us and the environment, too. Some things that we practiced in Humanities were editing or critiquing our classmates haikus. Some things that we practiced in Math-Science were using visualization to picture how our canvas would look and the colors we wanted to use. At the end of the project,I had created a colorful, yet small crayon canvas and a wonderful and magnificent haiku poem. I was most proud of the crayon canvas because it means a lot to me and it reminds me of winter even though it doesn't really snow in San Diego.
Layers of Us

During this project, we learned about decimals and percentages. We created a 3D art piece about our past, present, and what we wanted our future(s) to be like. We went online and searched up images that represented those 3 things. We printed them out and glued them into a small box which was made of card stock, wood glue, and of course some wood, too. Afterwards, we typed out why we chose those images, an explanation or artist statement, and what they meant to us. Later on, they were hung up in the 6th grade hallways. At the end of the 6th grade year, all of our work was recycled if we didn't want it. Unfortunately, they tossed out mine before I could collect it, so I couldn't take a photograph of it.
Lit-ART-ure Project
In Humanities, we learned how to represent elements of literature with art, various types of writing, and stories. Then we went through the whole critiquing process with our classmates. The critiquing process is pretty simple. We displayed or read our work to a peer, then we received feedback, then we revised it. In our peers short stories, we had to keep a keen eye for run-on sentences and sentence fragments, too. We had to make sure they had used a variety of different literary devices so it flowed smoothly.
In Integrated Math-Science, we learned how to scale down images, using math, well, a ruler in this case, and creating different colors using a diverse amount of ratios. We also learned how to find percentages and decimals, too. While we were scaling down our images, we also created a superhero or super villain. In Humanities we created a short story about our superheroes or supervillains. Overall, I think it was a really great project since it had both writing and math in it.

We Are Divergent

During the Divergent project, we learned about decimals and percentages. Utilizing the Divergent website, we took the aptitude test. We went through the whole ceremony and did the "faction before blood" too. It was pretty funny. Instead of using a knife, which isn't safe, obviously, so Ms. LeFever and Ms. Christine used a red marker.
Using the information from the Divergent website, we created graphs of our personality types and made a sentence portrait in Multimedia with Mr.Cuez. In Math-Science, we created a Piktochart based on the results from the faction quiz. Overall, I think that it was a fun, entertaining project. To my dismay, they recycled all of our Sentence Portraits so I couldn't document it here.
Below is my I Am Divergent Piktochart which shows my percentage of each faction and a few experiences of my mine that act as reasoning for each one.
